    1881 Trade Dollar, PR68 ★ Cameo
    From the Jack Lee Collection, Part III

    1881 T$1 PR68 ★ Cameo NGC. The 1881 Trade dollar is a proof-only issue with a mintage of just 960 coins. Few have survived in such a high technical grade as the piece we offer here. In fact, it is one of just three specimens certified at this lofty grade level, and no finer examples have been seen (3/11). The cameo contrast on both sides is outstanding, and even high magnification reveals no significant impairments to the immaculately preserved surfaces. The obverse displays crescents of cobalt-blue, lavender, and golden-brown patination along the right border. A similar coloration takes on a mottled effect throughout the entire reverse. The design elements are boldly impressed and reveal excellent detail. This coin exhibits splendid eye appeal and is sure to draw enthusiastic bids from Trade dollar connoisseurs.
