1882 Trade Dollar, Rare PR66 Deep Cameo
Eye-Catching Contrast

1882 T$1 PR66 Deep Cameo PCGS. Proof Trade dollars from the 1880s are usually available in the absolute sense, but high-grade examples -- particularly those with any degree of cameo contrast -- are seldom seen. A low high-grade survival rate is partly to blame, but collector demand for these coins, which are essential to complete the Trade dollar date set, causes many of pieces reflected on the population reports to be tightly held by their respective owners and only infrequently offered at auction.

This Premium Gem 1882 representative is a rarely seen, high-end Deep Cameo. Deep Cameo examples of this issue are scarce overall, so the appearance of a piece this fine is truly exceptional. This coin is boldly struck, with intense mint frost over the relief elements. The fields are fully mirrored and devoid of bothersome hairlines. The eye appeal is further accentuated by a touch of light golden toning. Population: 9 in 66 Deep Cameo, 3 finer (7/15).(Registry values: P1)
