Final Collectible Issue in the Series
1883 T$1 PR64 PCGS. This proof-only issue (979 coins struck)
is the final collectible date in the Trade dollar series. Bowers
(1993) notes that a small number of proofs, likely from the
December production of 110 pieces, were either spent or melted in
early 1884. This spectacular Choice proof exhibits sharply detailed
design elements and deeply mirrored fields that provide noticeable
(but unacknowledged) field-device contrast. Eye appeal is
