Impressive 1883 Trade Dollar, PR67 Cameo
1883 T$1 PR67 Cameo NGC. This delightful Superb Gem 1883 Trade dollar concludes this notable run of high-grade proof Trade dollars from late in the series. The 1883 is, of course, the final collectible issue of the series, although a few examples are known dated 1884 and 1885. By 1883 the proof emission had once again dropped beneath 1,000 pieces, specifically to 979 recorded coins. This exquisite Superb Gem displays impressive cameo contrast. The obverse has faint lavender toning, while the reverse is fully brilliant, with deeper contrast. A well executed strike brings out sharp detail, and both sides are impeccably preserved.
