    Description

    1877 Twenty Cent, PR62
Merely 510 Proofs Struck for the Year

1877 20C PR62 PCGS Secure. BF-1, R.3. All 510 proof twenty cent pieces struck in 1877 were produced from a single pair of dies that show a horizontal die scratch in the drapery above Liberty's foot. Examples of this proof-only issue are challenging in any grade and highly sought-after among collectors trying to assemble complete sets of this short-lived denomination. The interiors are mostly bright and frosted, while the rims show deep multicolor patina. Wispy marks in the fields explain the grade.(Registry values: N2998)
