    Description

    Select Proof 1877 Twenty Cent
    Deeply Toned and Sharply Struck

1877 20C PR63 PCGS. The short-lived twenty cent series is actually eminently collectible save for one show-stopper, the legendary 1876-CC issue. The 1877 was a proof-only issue of a reported 510 pieces, according to the Guide Book. This Select proof shows few signs of contact over dusky surfaces that are sharply struck, mostly charcoal and deep mahogany color. Areas of rich toning, including shades of deep electric-blue and fuchsia color, appear primarily on the reverse when inspected closely. Population: 76 in 63, 93 finer (2/13).
    From The William Jacob Collection, Part II.(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 27H4, PCGS# 5305)
