Description

Scarce Proof 1878 Twenty Cent Piece

1878 20C --Improperly Cleaned--NCS. Proof. The brief four-year run of the twenty cent piece ensures that any proof is desirable as a type coin. But the series ended with two low mintage proof-only dates, which makes these particularly in demand. For the 1878, only 600 proofs were struck. The present specimen is well struck and has light pearl-gray toning. The fields are subdued but only faintly hairlined.(Registry values: N1793)
