PR65 Red and Brown Cameo
1864 2C Large Motto PR65 Red and Brown Cameo NGC. The
Guide Book provides an italicized mintage of 100+ pieces for
the proof 1864 Large Motto two cent piece. The actual production
presumably exceeded the silver proof set (470 pieces), since Civil
War-era buyers could purchase proof singles. This sharply struck
and flashy Gem is principally orange-gold but also displays hints
of steel-gray patina.Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2012), lot 11914, which realized $776.25.
