Description
Flashy Gem Proof 1864 Large Motto Two-Cent Piece
1864 PR 65 Red NGC. A superb example of this first year issue and a very elusive proof date. Only 100 proofs were struck of the Large Motto variety for 1864. While survivors are often found with dull surfaces, this piece has bright cherry-red color with pristine, deeply mirrored fields and crisply defined devices. Certainly one of the finest examples extant today. Population: 4 in 65, only 4 finer (11/97).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 274T, PCGS# 3623, GSID# 2709)
