Description
Important 1866 Two Cent
PR66 Red Cameo
1866 2C PR66 Red Cameo NGC. While NGC has certified nine
total examples of this proof issue as having Cameo contrast, this
is the only one so designated to have full Red surfaces (2/10). As
such, it is of great importance to the high-end series collector.
While both sides show strong contrast, that of the obverse is
slightly more impressive, owing to its greater depth of frost on
the devices. Light copper-gold surfaces show subtle color
variations, including accents in peach and mint, though none of
this color veers into Brown territory. In short, a wonderful and
important specimen.(Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 274V, PCGS# 83632, GSID# 2725)
