Deeply Reflective Mirrors

1868 2C PR66 Red PCGS. Fiery-orange and amber surfaces offer noticeable field-design contrast despite the absence of a formal Cameo designation from PCGS. The mirrors are reflective and virtually free of contact. Breen's Proof Encyclopedia cites three varieties for the date, including this one with an incomplete ornament below the left half of the W in WE. One of about 600 proofs minted in 1868. Population: 9 in 66 Red, 2 finer (5/16).(Registry values: N2998)
