Exceptional 1870 Gem Red Proof Two Cent Piece

1870 2C PR66 Red NGC. An absolutely phenomenal Two Cent proof example. The surfaces are bright and deeply mirrored with shimmering, unmellowed red mint color over each side. Numerous die polish lines (as struck) are seen in the obverse field. As a future identifier, one small abrasion is noted below the left (facing) arrow shaft at 7 o'clock near the obverse rim. Still, one of the finest proof Two Cent pieces we have seen in several years. Population: 10 in 66, 1 finer (11/03).(#3644) (Registry values: P1, N2400)
