Description

1871 Two Cent Piece, PR66 Red and Brown Cameo
Bright, Almost Fully Red Surfaces

1871 2C PR66 Cameo NGC. Production of two cent pieces for circulation continued to drop year after year, making it increasingly difficult to find such coins in high grades and lending the proof strikings ever-greater importance. This exceptionally attractive coin has deeply mirrored fields with sharply contrasting frosted devices. The Red and Brown label is curious, as there is little evidence of any brown on this piece. The surfaces are almost perfectly preserved. Census: 21 in PR66 Red and Brown Cameo, only one finer (2/10).(Registry values: P1)
