One Graded Numerically Finer

1871 2C PR66 Red and Brown NGC. CAC. The surfaces are about 60:40 red versus brown on each side, with luminous mint luster and abundant eye appeal. A few small brownish flecks are toning, not carbon, and glints of pale green appear within the reverse wreath. One of the few finest survivors from the proof coinage of 960 pieces. Census: 22 in 66 (1 in 66 ★ ) Red and Brown, 1 finer (12/13).(Registry values: N1793)
