Description

1871 Two Cent, PR66 Red
Spectacular Visual Appeal

1871 2C PR66 Red PCGS. FS-102. The Guide Book reports a mintage of 960 two cent proofs in 1871, but the exact number of specimens struck was never officially recorded by Mint officials. The spectacular surfaces of the Premium Gem proof maintain their mint Red coloration and show considerable mirroring in the fields, generating partial cameo contrast that is undesignated on the holder. A few contact marks are unworthy of individual attention. Population: 16 in 66 (1 in 66+) Red, 0 finer (5/16).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22NH, PCGS# 3647, Greysheet# 2749)
