Description

1871 Two Cent, PR67 Red
Condition Census Rarity

1871 2C PR67 Red NGC. FS-102. A lovely Condition Census example of this proof, needle sharp and appreciably mirrored, with warm copper-gold color throughout. No spots or contact marks interrupt the incredible eye appeal. The Condition Census of 1871 proof two cent pieces consists of three PR67 Reds (two at NGC, one at PCGS), two PR67 Red Cameos (one each at NGC and PCGS), and a PR67 Red Ultra Cameo at NGC (10/21). We have seen only one of these pieces within the last decade, that being the NGC Cameo that appeared in our February 2020 Long Beach Signature, lot 3023. The lack of carbon spotting on this piece truly sets it apart from most Red proofs we have seen of this date, regardless of grade. All 1871 two cent proofs are FS-102 with die doubling on TRUST. Census: 2 in 67 Red, 0 finer (10/21).(Registry values: N4719)
