Description
Final-Year 1873 Two Cent Piece, PR63 Brown
Closed 3 Variant
1873 2C Closed 3 PR63 Brown PCGS. The 1873 is a proof-only
issue and the Closed 3 issue was limited to a mere 600 pieces. The
Closed 3 is easily discernable without a glass, as the horizontal
shield lines are uniformly strong. The restrike Open 3 coins always
show a patch of weakness. Housed in a first-generation PCGS holder;
the surfaces are almost completely brown with a trace of underlying
red. There are few visible contact marks, but the brown patina has
subdued the field mirrors.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2753, PCGS# 3651, GSID# 2757)
