Description

1873 Closed 3 Two Cent, PR64 Brown
With a Needle-Sharp Strike

1873 2C Closed 3 PR64 Brown PCGS. CAC. Despite the Brown designation, considerable accents of pink and lovely jade near the lower obverse rim intermingle with the prevailing deep purplish-blue colors on both sides of this original piece. The N in IN shows interesting double-punching, a characteristic we have noted before although unmentioned in the Breen proof reference. Radiant luster and a needle-sharp strike complete the appeal. Population: 39 in 64 Brown, 16 finer (5/11).(Registry values: N1793)
