1873 Closed 3 Two Cent Piece PR64 Red and Brown

1873 2C Closed 3 PR64 Red and Brown PCGS. This was the final year of issue for the short-lived two cent denomination, which was introduced in 1864. Only proofs were produced with the 1873 date, although the Open 3 coins were believed by Walter Breen to be restrikes, possibly from a later time period. This is a well mirrored near-Gem with rich coloration that is more red than brown. The surfaces are blemish-free. (Registry values: N1793)
