1873 2C Closed 3 PR65 Brown PCGS. CAC. The strike is expectedly crisp and a significant amount of mint luster enlivens the copper-brown surfaces. This popular Gem represents the final-year, proof-only issue in the short-lived series that was abolished by the Coinage Act of 1873. Coins from the original mintage of 600 pieces can be distinguished by the Closed 3 variety as opposed to the restrikes bearing the Open 3. Population: 15 in 65 Brown, 7 finer (6/14).(Registry values: N1793)
