Proof-Only 1873 Two Cent Piece
Closed 3, PR65 Red
1873 2C Closed 3 PR65 Red PCGS. The proof-only 1873 two cent
piece comes in two varieties. Closed 3 specimens are considered to
be original strikings. Open 3 pieces were apparently coined by
"midnight minters" a few years later, to meet collector demand for
examples. This Closed 3 Gem has a needle-sharp strike and lovely
sun-gold and rose color. Certified in a green label holder.
