1873 2C Closed 3 PR66 Red and Brown PCGS. The final year of production for two cent pieces, the 1873 is a proof-only issue. Varieties exist with an Open 3, and with a Closed 3 as offered here. The Guide Book reports a mintage of 600 coins, and that was likely the Closed 3 production that was coined in 1873. The Open 3 coins are believed to be restrikes. This piece has extraordinary, with deeply mirrored fields shining through dappled orange, violet, and blue toning.
