1873 2C Open 3 PR65 Red and Brown NGC. Mintages of two cent pieces dropped annually throughout its 10-year run, from nearly 20,000,000 pieces in 1864 to a scant 1,100 pieces in 1873. The 1873 production was proof-only and divided between 600 Closed 3 and 500 Open 3 pieces. The present fully struck specimen is predominantly peach-gold although the obverse in particular is moderately mellowed.(Registry values: N2998)
