1873 Two Cent, PR66 Brown
Proof-Only, Scarce Open 3 Variety, CAC

1873 2C Open 3 PR66 Brown PCGS. CAC. The final date of the two cent series is a proof only issue. Both Closed 3 and Open 3 proofs were struck. The Open 3 variety is the scarcer of the two. This 1873 Premium Gem proof in Brown displays ocean-blue and wheat-brown toning with a blush of plum-red patina near the left scroll end. The luminous surfaces are unabraded and show only infrequent trivial carbon, along with a couple of tiny flan imperfections on the reverse border. PCGS reports no numerically finer Brown examples. PCGS Population: 9 in 66 (1 in 66+), 0 finer. CAC: 10 in 66, 0 finer (6/26).
