Description
1873 2C Open 3 PR 64 Red and Brown. This coin was previously offered as lot 5114 in our November 1999 Santa Clara Sale, where it was cataloged as: "Sharply struck with considerably more red than brown. The few imperfections are small and not distracting. A restrike and much scarcer than the originals." To this description we add only that the surfaces are overlaid with mottled milky haziness that mutes the reflectivity at certain angles.
