Description

1873 Closed 3 Two-Cent Piece, Proof 65 Red

1873 Open 3 PR 65 Red ANACS. Immediately recognizable as an Open 3 by the weak lower horizontal shield lines, a diagnostic of all Open 3s if one is in doubt about the configuration of the 3. Both sides are moderately reflective and exhibit coppery-red color. A very rare issue and much scarcer than the Closed 3 strikings.
