Full Red PR66 Open 3 1873 Two Cent Piece

1873 2C Open 3 PR66 Red PCGS. The Open 3 1873 Two Cent Pieces are several times rarer than their Closed 3 counterparts. The Open 3 strikings are the restrikes, and in addition to the difference in the configuration of the 3 in the date, the Open 3 pieces are easily distinguished by weak definition on the lower horizontal crossbars on the shield. The surfaces on this piece are bright and very light in color with bright orange-red luster. Spot-free and problem-free throughout, this is the finest Open 3 we have seen in recent memory. Population: 4 in 66, 0 finer (3/02).
From the David Ponsford Collection.
