Description
1942 Half Dollar, PR68
Final Walking Liberty Proof Issue
One Numerically Finer at PCGS
1942 50C PR68 PCGS. The 1942 is the most plentiful Walking
Liberty half proof from a series-high mintage of 21,120 pieces. As
World War II raged on, the half dollar proof series was suspended,
and the 1942 is the final-year issue for Walking Liberty proofs.
This remarkable Superb Gem is fully brilliant save for a lovely
splash of amber-gold on the middle of the eagle. The razor-sharp
devices on deeply mirrored fields yield strong eye appeal, and PCGS
shows only one numerically finer example (3/26).(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 27V9, PCGS# 6642, Greysheet# 6783)
