Description

1942 Walking Liberty Half Dollar, PR69
Vivid Multicolor Toning, Tied for Finest

1942 50C PR69 NGC. For the entire seven-year series and across both certification services, only 10 proof Walking Liberty half dollars have achieved the unsurpassed PR69 grade -- eight of these are in the 1942 issue. For type collectors of proof coinage and Registry Set competitors, this remarkable, near-perfect 1942 proof Walker is unsurpassable in both quality and eye appeal. Vivid shades of emerald-green and lavender toning visit the deeply reflective surfaces, but the centers remain essentially brilliant. The design elements are fully struck, and no mentionable distractions are evident. Eye appeal is terrific. The last PR69 example we offered realized $22,325 in lot 3978 of the Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2015). The present coin is equally attractive and important. Census: 7 in 69 (1 in 69 ), 0 finer (11/15).(Registry values: N4719)
