Description
Superb 1937 Washington Quarter, PR68
Tied for Finest-Certified by PCGS
1937 25C PR68 PCGS. Ex: Tom Mershon Collection. A Superb
example of this scarcer, low mintage issue. In just the second year
of proof coinage for the Washington quarter series, a mere 5,542
pieces were produced; a tiny number compared to modern issues. The
fields are nicely mirrored and there are no mentionable contact
marks on either side of this wonderfully preserved piece. The
undeniably exquisite eye appeal of the coin is generated, in part,
by the delicate gold-tan and turquoise-blue coloration that adorns
the pristine surfaces. Tied with one other specimen as the
finest-certified by PCGS (8/08). (Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 27HP, PCGS# 5976, GSID# 5850)
