Description

1938 25C PR66 PCGS. Light dusky-brown patina and a sharp strike. The obverse is struck from a worn die, with the radial die flow lines visible under a loupe. The reverse die appears to have had the eagle's plumage strengthened by hand, with raised die lines (as struck) outlining many of the feathers. Many early proof dates in the series also show these lines, but to a lesser degree. A wonderfully preserved coin that is seemingly conservatively graded.
