1941 Quarter, PR68, Sole Finest Graded

1941 25C PR68 PCGS. CAC. The 1941 Washington quarter is not top of mind for collectors considering the purchase of an early proof within the series. Most opt for a first-year 1936 in high grade, or a 1937, which will cost considerably less. A 1936 in PR67 PCGS grade will cost roughly $7,000-$8,000, while a 1937 in the same grade is around $1,000. But how about purchasing the sole finest-graded 1941 proof, with the added CAC approval? This is a coin that has obviously recently been certified, given the two-tone blue-white label, and no price records exist ... but given the permanence of the Registry Set phenomenon, it is a safe bet this piece will see fierce bidding. Pristine surfaces show the palest hints of rose and jade in the fields, with thorough reflectivity throughout.(Registry values: N991)
