Description
1952 25C Superbird, Hand Engraved Tail Feathers, FS-902, PR68 PCGS. The wispy letter S on the eagle's chest identifies the "Superbird" variety, but the present piece is from the late die state with mint-strengthened tail feather definition. The working reverse proof die was modified by hand at the Philadelphia Mint to "restore" separation of the tail feathers. Fully struck and brightly mirrored with peripheral chestnut-gold toning.From The jwb1040 Collection.
