Description

Beautiful 1836 Reeded Edge Half, MS62

1836 50C Reeded Edge MS62 NGC. The Reeded Edge Capped Bust half series began with a minor run of 1,200 pieces in 1836. While several versions of the Judd pattern reference included the 1836 Reeded Edge pieces, most numismatic scholars agree that such coins were intended for circulation. Indeed, many did circulate, and Mint State examples are conditionally scarce. This crisply struck survivor has pleasing detail and no trace of wear. The surfaces have soft, pleasing luster beneath sea-green, sky-blue, sapphire, and amethyst patina. Small, scattered abrasions on each side account for the grade. Census: 10 in 62, 10 finer (6/07).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 6175, Greysheet# 6215)

Weight: 13.36 grams
