Description
Attractive XF 1836 Reeded Edge Half
1836 50C Reeded Edge XF40 NGC. A nice, moderately circulated example of this low-mintage coin that saw several transitions: from "blood power" to steam power, as Mint Director Robert Maskell Patterson called it; from edge lettering to edge reeding; and from an open collar to a closed collar, which obviated the possibility of the edge lettering. This piece shows attractive pinkish-gold and gray patina with few abrasions.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 6175, GSID# 6215)
