Discussing the 1836 Reeded Edge halves, Andrew Pollock, III, wrote: "Although Davis, Adams-Woodin, and Judd included them as part of the pattern series, many others have considered them to be a regular-issue, struck for circulation, possibly in 1837, using planchets of the fineness specified by the Act of January 18, 1837." This example has smooth surfaces with deep steel-gray on both sides, and splashes of lighter silver on the highpoints of the design.(Registry values: N1793)
