Choice XF 1836 Reeded Edge Half

1836 50C Reeded Edge XF45 NGC. The 1836 Reeded Edge half dollar is historic, since it departs from the Mint's former tradition of open collar production. But the real reason it is hoarded has more to do with its minuscule reported mintage of 1,200 pieces. This bright example has a peripheral blush of golden-brown toning. Some luster remains, and the surfaces are only moderately marked. A minor obverse rim ding is detected at 4:30.(Registry values: N1793)
