Description

1837 Reeded Edge Half Dollar, MS65
GR-24, Potent Cartwheel Luster

1837 50C GR-24, R.2, MS65 NGC. Dazzling cartwheel luster illuminates this remarkably unabraded Gem. The obverse has only a hint of golden toning along with an ebony freckle near star 10. The reverse displays medium caramel-gold and powder-blue patina. The strike is precise except for softness on star 8 and the CA in AMERICA. Fine die lines in the shield and at the neck and chest joint identify GR-24. All varieties considered, NGC shows only 12 numerically finer pieces (12/25).
