Unlisted Pattern 2 Bani
Carol I Specimen Pattern 2 Bani 1881-B SP64 Red and Brown
PCGS, KM-Unl, Schäffer/Stambuliu-Unl. "REGE AL" in legend. An
obscure Pattern, purportedly unique, displaying an alternative
obverse design for the 1881 2 Bani. The rejected design seen here
with "REGE AL" in the legend was replaced with the approved
business design which uses "DOMNUL" in the obverse legend. We note
a similar difference can be seen on the two Leu types from this
year (cf. Schäffer/Stambuliu-27 and 28). The offering touts a
tortoise shell patina with beautiful originality shining through,
making for exceptional viewing in person. We note some striated
planchet imperfections for completeness, a moot point given the
originality of this Specimen. A rare find for the an advanced
