Description

1965 Roosevelt Dime, AU53
Struck on a 90% Silver Planchet
Transitional Alloy Mint Error

1965 10C Roosevelt Dime -- Struck on a 90% Silver Planchet -- AU53 NGC. 2.5 grams, typical for 90% silver dimes. Most post-1964 Denver Mint dimes were struck on clad dime planchets, so 1965 error dimes on 90% silver dime planchets are rare. Although the Mint resumed silver production on dimes in 1992, it was exclusive to proof pieces. This example is well-struck and shows wear and light marks consistent with AU53 pieces. Mostly gray surfaces show a few delicate splashes of ice-blue and olive-gold.
