Incredibly Rare Catherine II 5 Roubles Novodel

Catherine II gold Novodel 5 Roubles 1782-CПБ MS64+★ NGC, St. Petersburg mint, cf. KM-C78b (for regular issue, unlisted as a Novodel), Bit-H81 (R3), Fr-130b. On only two previous occasions has a Novodel 5 Roubles featuring Catherine the Great been sold by Heritage, and only two other specimens in the entire series besides this one populate NGC's census report (1763 and 1788 dates pieces). Suffice to say, this is an incredibly elusive series that is rarely presented to the public in any date from the Empress' 34 year reign. This specimen can be traced back to the Kroisos Collection sale sold with Stack's Bowers in January of 2008. The coin's write-up in that sale turned out to be quite prophetic, described (the coin being raw at that time) as being "only a whisper away from full Gem status". Now flaunting both a "plus" and "star" superlative on top of its MS64 assignment, this piece is truly as close to full Gem status as possible. Simply put, the eye appeal is stunning; Catherine's canary yellow frosted portrait exhibiting excellent preservation, the reverse nearing Cameo levels of contrast, and the overall aesthetic being one of immense radiance. A Catherine the Great Novodel of grand proportions.

1782-CПБ年葉卡捷琳娜二世Novodel 5盧布金幣。MS64+★ NGC。
聖彼得堡造幣廠。在此之前，海瑞得僅曾經手葉卡捷琳娜大帝像Novodel 5盧布兩次。而在NGC的記錄中，除當前這枚外，算上整個發行系列亦僅見兩例（分別為1763年及1788年）。故毫不諱言，這款金幣不論出自葉卡捷琳娜大帝在位的哪一年，都發放著無窮魅力。此幣可追溯至Kroisos集藏，並於2008年1月經Stack's Bowers售出。當時此幣並未入盒，而拍品敘述則寫道﹕「此幣與珍品品相僅一步之遙」。事實證明此論斷頗具慧眼，在送評後獲評MS64分，更連「+」及「★」，與全珍品品相確實極為接近。此幣狀態無與倫比，葉卡捷琳娜的金黄色肖像富含霜感，呈現出超凡卓絕的保存狀態。背面的對比效果堪比鏡面。整枚金幣散發出炫目耀眼的光芒。實為舉足輕重的葉卡捷琳娜大帝像Novodel。
