Catherine II gold 10 Roubles 1775-CПБ MS62 NGC, St. Petersburg mint, KM-C79a, Bitkin-31 (R). Fr-129a. A celebrated series in Russian numismatics that is veritably rare in this state of preservation. These issues are nearly unavailable to collectors in certified Mint State condition. This date in particular seems to be tougher to source in quality preservation than most, with a representation of problem-free examples between NGC and PCGS being a mere ten pieces (five at each service), none rising to Uncirculated besides this very specimen. The generous luster emanates from the entirety of the flan, a wonderful accompaniment to the lightly honeyed patina of this near-Choice treasure. A selection that should garner substantial attention due to it's "finest known certified" status for the date.
