Catherine II gold Novodel 10 Roubles 1796-CПБ MS64 NGC, St. Petersburg mint, KM-N285, Bitkin-H54 (R3), Fr-129b. A masterclass example of a Novodel 10 Roubles from arguably the most coveted date of Catherine the Great's coinage, the final year of her prosperous reign. On only one previous occasion prior to this sale has Heritage been fortunate enough to offer a Novodel 10 Roubles from the Catherine the Great series at large, and that was a 1768 dated piece that sold back in 2008. Not since this very same example sold with Stack's in 2007 has a 1796 10 Roubles come to public auction worldwide; the rarity and unavailability of this issue to collectors is substantial. Thankfully, this specimen has been preserved with the utmost care since it's striking, the golden surfaces still beaming with mint imbued brilliance. Die rust, die bulges, and heavy die polish evidence in the fields are all characteristics of this example, making it quite unique in it's appearance. A special piece of Russian numismatic history that Catherine the Great enthusiasts will not want to let slip through their hands.

1796-CПБ年葉卡捷琳娜二世Novodel 10盧布金幣。MS64 NGC。
