Nicholas I Novodel 1-1/2 Family Rouble 1836, obverse signed П.У., reverse unsigned, Bust of Nicholas I right/Bust of Empress Alexandra in the center, facing right, surrounded by busts of the Royal children with no circles, Bit-H889, VF25 NGC. The diagnostic break in the die is clearly visible between 4 and 5 o'clock, and denotes this piece as the Novodel issue. An interesting side note to this rare coin... the father of the previous owner carried this rare item for many years as a pocket piece, accounting for the evenly worn, circulated appearance.More information about Russian Coins.
