    Extremely Rare 1710 Small Head Rouble

    Peter I Rouble 1710 Obverse Lamination, Mint Error, VF20 NGC, Kadashevsky mint, Bit-194 (R1), Diakov-334 (R3), Petrov 1 (30 rub.), with portrait by S. Guen and ribbon of order on Peter's chest, second "1," of date, over "O." Obv. Bust of Peter I right, with small head and ribbon of order on chest. Rev. Crowned double-headed Imperial with date in legend. Medium gray toning, with spots of darker gray color. The strike is decent for this elusive issue, with light marks and a flan flaw on the edge at 3 o'clock. An Extremely Rare variety, and the first example we can find at auction since 2014. The example in the "Sincona Collection," sold on October 15 , 2014, Lot 43, and graded VF, with an obverse flan flaw and scratches, sold for approximately $68,000 dollars. The first of this type we have offered and one of the true highlights of an outstanding group of Russian coins offered in this sale.
