Description

    Gem 2000-P 'Cheerios' Dollar
    Modern Mint Rarity

2000-P $1 Cheerios MS65 PCGS. FS-902. The new "golden" Sacagawea dollar was the subject of intense (but ultimately futile) Mint promotions, including packaging in occasional boxes of Cheerios cereal. Those fortunate enough to receive the new dollar often spent their prize. Several years later, a sharp-eyed collector noticed that the tail feathers had much more detail on the Cheerios pieces than on those dollars struck for general circulation. By then, surviving Cheerios dollars had become rarities. This is a mark-free "Cheerios" dollar with brightly lustrous honey-gold surfaces. One small mint-made obverse strike-through is at 3 o'clock. Also comes with an uncertified 2000 "Cheerios" cent and the original blister-pack. (NGC ID# 282J, Variety PCGS# 147231, Base PCGS# 411990)
