Pleasing 1908 No Motto Premium Gem Wells Fargo Double Eagle

1908 $20 No Motto MS66 PCGS. Ex: Wells Fargo Nevada Gold. The Capitol building and Liberty's fingers and toes are crisply struck, while her nose and the lowest portion of the eagle's leg have only slight highpoint softness, as made. Lustrous and nearly pristine; a miniscule mark on Liberty's left breast is mentioned for accuracy. Pebbly-like surfaces yield pleasing peach-gold color. President Theodore Roosevelt believed that the motto IN GOD WE TRUST was blasphemous, since currency could be used for any purpose. Congress disagreed, however, and No Motto Twenties were only struck for two years. PCGS has certified just 42 pieces finer (11/05).
