Description
1908 No Motto Double Eagle, MS67
Ex: Wells Fargo Hoard, Dazzling Luster
1908 $20 No Motto, Wells Fargo Nevada, MS67 PCGS. Ex: Wells
Fargo Nevada Gold. Short Rays Obverse. The famous Wells Fargo Hoard
remains the single largest hoard of U.S. gold coins ever
discovered. Most of the 1908 No Motto double eagles had the Short
Rays Obverse that was carried over from the 1907 master die. Such
coins were typically less-sharp than later-issued Long Rays Obverse
coins. The present Short Rays Superb Gem is crisply struck with
only minor weakness at the nose, knee, and stars. Bright mint
luster rolls across the vibrant orange-gold surfaces with no
significant marks of note. The overall quality is exceptional, with
eye appeal that suggests an even finer grade.(Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26F6, Variety PCGS# 99142, Base PCGS# 9142)
