Description

Reddish Tinged MS65 1908-D No Motto Twenty

1908-D $20 No Motto MS65 PCGS. Q. David Bowers' A Guide Book of Double Eagle Gold Coins sums up this issue succinctly: "Today the 1908-D No Motto, while the least plentiful issue of the Type 5 design, is readily available in grades from MS60 to 63 or even 64, but MS65 examples are very rare." The present strictly Gem coin offers all of the requisite characteristics and more, with softly glowing, lustrous fields, few abrasions, and a boldly pleasing strike. As a further indication of this issue's rarity in Gem state, PCGS has graded only nine examples finer, with four at NGC (8/08).(Registry values: N4719)
