Description

Choice AU 1908-S Saint-Gaudens

1908-S $20 AU55 NGC. The 1908-S has the lowest mintage of the Arabic Numerals type, despite the then traditional status of the San Francisco Mint as a high volume producer of double eagles. Only 22,000 pieces were struck, and most went into circulation, since the typical example shows light wear on Liberty's chest and raised knee, as does the present coin. Satiny and attractive with minor contact on the eagle.(Registry values: N1793)
